The Fiction of Covert Incest

Family relationships can be abusive, but is covert incest real?

I recently came across an article which discussed a less than ideal family situation. I won’t use the person’s name or reference the article, unless the author wants me to. I certainly welcome their feedback in the comments section. But one of the main points of the article was a discussion on covert incest.

The concept of covert incest was developed by Dr. Kenneth Adams, who is also one of the main proponents arguing for the validity of the concept. It’s a term that has been discussed in a number of articles, but it is also a contested idea.

There are a number of ways in which covert incest has been described. Dr. Robert Weiss describes it as thus.
