True Essence of Positivity

Today I got to reflect on positivity and its essence. Four days straight now I’ve been writing about being all positive and having a positive mindset, and today got me hard thinking a lot of what I’m doing here. I’m curious. The questions in my mind are, how long could I keep this up? Can I really stay positive every day? What’s really the essence of positivity for me?

I have a confession to make. I’m having a hard time feeling positive today. It’s just one of those many days I guess. I scratched off two ideas already that I initially wanted to write about. I don’t feel they are real to what I’m feeling as of the moment.

So I dug really deep, beyond my thoughts and my emotions, and what I uncovered is the true essence of positivity for me.

To be really positive, I have to be honest with myself in this moment. For me, positivity is not about pretend feeling. It’s not about shutting down a part of myself. I have to be the whole me to be positive. I have to acknowledge that I’m a person and feeling down from time to time is natural for me. I don’t have to fake anything at all.

Positivity is in the simplest of things. Even waking up feeling down, I DID wake up and I’ve been given another shot at life. It is with me when I go out for my quick run, when I eat a hearty meal, or when I take a cold shower. Tapping on it is easy if I just pause for a moment and I begin to be thankful for what I have, for what I can see, smell, taste, feel around me. It is always there if I know how to look at things through my blessings.

I am who I am. We are who we are, and we should learn to appreciate that to become positive. When we have a healthy relationship with ourselves, it becomes hard for us not to see positivity everywhere and in anything. It is birthed through our weakness, our strength, our dreams, our mistakes, our passions, our struggles. For me, who I truly am is the essence of my positivity.

So, going back to those three questions in my mind. (1) I could keep up writing about it as long as I can be honest with myself in the present time and to not fake it when I’m feeling down. (2) Yes, I can stay positive every day if I know how to be thankful and grateful for all the blessings that I have. And finally, (3) the essence of it for me is to be okay with who I am, to accept my shortcomings, to acknowledge my strengths, and to know my worth and my value as a human being.

Keep spreading positivity, everyone!
