USC vs Washington Predictions

USC is on the road playing Washington at the Alaska Airlines Arena stadium on Friday, 12/30/2022 @ 10:00pm EST. USC -1 was the opening favorite and line hasn’t moved.

In the Pac-12 Conference showdown at Alaska Airlines Arena in Seattle, Washington, the USC Trojans take on the Washington Huskies on Friday, December 30. The Trojans will try to win their sixth consecutive game over the Huskies at 10:00 PM ET. They are slight road favorites by 1 point. Let’s take a closer look at the total of 141.5 points.

It has been a great few weeks for the USC Trojans (10–3; 6–7 ATS, 2–0 conference). In conference play, the Trojans beat California 66–51 and Oregon State 63–62. They also defeated Cal State Fullerton 64–50, Long Beach State 88–78, and №19 Auburn 74–71, and Colorado State 73–64.

On December 21, USC defeated the Rams by nine points at a neutral site. As a result, the Trojans covered a 3-point spread by holding Colorado State to 37.7% field goal shooting and 18.5% from beyond the arc. Boogie Ellis led the way with 19 points, as well as a couple of assists and steals, while USC made 53.1% of its field goals (9-for-19 from deep). Despite dishing out 16 assists, the Trojans turned the ball over 22 times.

After falling to the №23 Auburn Tigers 84–61 at home on December 21, the Washington Huskies are 9–4; 6–7 ATS; 0–2 in conference. Keion Brooks scored 15 points and grabbed five rebounds for Washington, and Braxton Meah added eight points, nine rebounds, and two steals.

USC will have difficulty scoring in the paint against the Huskies due to their poor 3-point shooting. In contrast, the Trojans will attack the rim and take full advantage of Washington’s interior defense, so I’m picking USC to win and cover. USC is defending the 3-point line extremely well, but I don’t see them containing them in the paint. On the road, the Trojans have covered four of their last five games. In their previous five meetings with the Huskies, they are 5–0 SU and 3–2 ATS, while the Huskies have gone 3–8 ATS in their last 11 contests in December.

With a power ranking of 132, USC is ranked #188 in offense (scoring an average of 71.85 per game), #104 in defense (allowing an average of 65.54 points to be scored against them per game) and are 10–3 (6–7 ATS) this season.

Washington Huskies has a power ranking of 146 and are #218 for offense (scoring an average of 70.46 per game), #115 for defense (giving up an average of 65.54 points per game) and 9–4 (6–7 ATS) overall. USC went 0–3 (2–1 ATS) in their last 3 matchups against Washington.
