Walking to school

I was excited to walk my little nieces to school I love spending time with them. Hand in hand I walked these sweet wide eyed girls up the sidewalk. Along the way I was showed the house with the chickens. “You can only see one right now but there are five of them.” “No one of them got eaten by that big dog remember.” “ Oh right” I am then shown the part of the sidewalk that is over grown by what I am told is creeper vines. We had to walk a little in the street “It’s okay because we don’t want to mush the plants and we are really careful.” The stop light was green as we approached “We don’t even have to stop” I could see the girls school that is when we reach a chain link fence with a rather large pit bull in the back. “This is Cannella it means cinnamon in Spanish. They named her that because she is brown like cinnamon.” We stop for a full minute and pet the sweetest pit bull in the world. “There is our school.” They pointed and began to sprint with me lopping behind them. The gates of the school were not open yet so many of the kids were waiting on the front benches. I was in a blur introduced to every single one of them. Abigail, Teresa, Carmen, Cameron, Jose, Maria, and more I can’t remember. Abigail and Jose were there clear best friends but I was so happy to see they were all friends. Open hearts, open minds, a beautiful world through the eyes of those who are small.
